Day 1

Arrival at Ladakh and Acclimatization

One of the most popular winter treks in India, Chadar Trek cuts and runs through craggy rocks and offbeat places where the temperature may even drop down to -10° C. This trek is considered one of the toughest and challenging trails in the country. However, on this expedition, you would cover all its scenic locations but in a short period.

The rest of the day will be free for you to relax and acclimatize.

(Since you are reaching an altitude of 4000 meters approximately from 200 meters in just one hour’s time, you may be excited and would want to explore everything on your very first day. However, your body needs to get acclimatized to such height and climate. We sincerely suggest that you rest on the first day for acclimatization.)

Day 2

Day at Leisure

After breakfast, you will spend the rest of the day at leisure. You could take a stroll through the market which is lined with fine restaurants and eateries (at your own expense). Beautiful Thangka paintings on silk, hand-woven carpets and rugs are worth buying from the markets in Leh. Later, visit the Sonam Norboo Memorial Hospital in Leh to undergo a compulsory health check-up and acquire a fitness certificate without which you will not be allowed on the trek. As the day comes to an end, prepare yourself for the exciting adventures that will be coming your way tomorrow.

Day 3

Drive to Tilat Sumdo via Chilling (65 kms Drive) | Trek to Gyalpo

It’s finally the day you’ve been waiting for. After breakfast, check-out from the hotel/guest house in Leh and embark on a thrilling long drive to Tilat Sumdo. During the drive, enjoy a short stopover for lunch at Nimu, a small village famous for offering views of the Zanskar and Indus River confluence.

Later, you will continue with your expedition to Tilat Sumdo by crossing multiple nerve-racking hairpin bends. From Tilat Sumdo, you will start trekking to the first campsite location – Gyalpo. Your guide will brief you about the tour and give tips on how to walk on the ice sheet. On the way, you will cross Shingra Koma that mesmerizes with picturesque views of huge mountain walls and serene environs. Once in Gyalpo, relax in your tent, enjoy your dinner and drift off to sleep.

Day 4

Trek from Gyalpo to Tibb

Begin the day with a delicious breakfast and start trekking to reach your destination of the day – Tibb. Throughout the journey, you will pass by numerous caves and gigantic waterfalls, some of which are not even frozen despite the temperature being minus. When in Tibb, you will come across a big cave which is home to many locals. If time permits then do meet them and share a cup of butter tea. Once you reach the tent at Tibb, unwind and enjoy your dinner followed by an overnight stay.

Day 5

Trek from Tibb to Gyalpo

Start your expedition from Tibb to reach Gyalpo. While trekking, you will come across high mountains rising from the sides of the river. If lucky, today, you might even catch a glimpse of a snow-leopard, fox and even ibex. In the evening, as you reach your camp in Gyalpo, enjoy your dinner and relax in a comfortable tent while watching stunning mountains shining radiantly in the moonlight.
